    A Note from the President:

Dear Central Florida NATS members and friends,

2011 Chapter Auditions (Results posted online)

March 5 at Rollins College witnessed the busiest chapter auditions ever, with 87 entries in 21 categories, representing 20 of our 34 members, who traveled from as far west as Lakeland, as far southeast as Melbourne and as far north as Leesburg and Daytona. For the first time ever, we were able to award cash prizes – a total of $650 to the 13 first-place winners!! Congratulations to our NATS members, their students and families, the accompanists, and to the officers, with a special thank you to Alan Gerber and John Clayton of Valencia for their work at the registration table and to our Secretary/Treasurer, Jeremy Hunt, and to his wife, Johanna, for their magic scheduling of a 60% increase in entries.

Re-Election of Incumbent Officers

Our lunch meeting yielded the re-election of the incumbent officers - - Claire Hodge, Vice President, Jeremy Hunt, Secretary/Treasurer and myself as President , as well as the appointment of three Assistant Vice Presidents: Adam Lloyd, Lizzy Brannan and Robin Lee Woods - and revealed a universal fondness for Target’s Brie & Berries platter, among other offerings.

Accomplishments of the 2009-2011 Term:

·         Establishment of a website [www.cflnats.org] and newsletter

·         Increase of the chapter membership

·         2010 inclusion of a High School Music Theatre category

·         2010 reception for the national NATS Intern program

·         2011 MET National Council NATS Encouragement Award of $200

·         2011 inclusion of a $50 cash prize for first-place winners - $650 awarded

·         Master Classes and Workshops galore - with high-profile presenters

2012 NATS National Convention in Orlando!

We eagerly anticipate the NATS National Convention, June 29-July3, 2012, at the Renaissance Orlando SeaWorld. Volunteers are needed to help with Registration, Session Support, Ticket Staffing, being a Welcome Ambassador, or Volunteer Support Staff! NATS Members, SNATS Members, and students of NATS Members can volunteer by contacting Site Coordinator, Kimberly Saunders Randall, National Committee Coordinating Chair, Dr. Jeanie Darnell, or by staying tuned into our website for more details!
