About Ruth Golden:
RUTH
GOLDEN was a leading soprano with the New York City
Opera from 1985 to 1991, and is currently director
of vocal studies at of Long Island University. Ms.
Golden has served as Guest Voice Instructor at the
Chautauqua Institution, the Glimmerglass Young
American Artist Program, and is Vocal Instructor at
the Academy of Vocal Arts. Under the direction of
Beverly Sills, Miss Golden appeared at New York City
Opera as Mimi in La bohème, Marguerite in
Faust, both Pamina and First Lady in Mozart's
Die Zauberflöte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni,
and a variety of operetta heroines in The Student
Prince, The Mikado, and The Merry
Widow. In addition to Live from Lincoln Center,
Miss Golden has appeared in New York at Carnegie
Hall (with the Oratorio Society of New York), Alice
Tully Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Symphony Space, and
Merkin Concert Hall. During the past few seasons,
she has worked with over 2,000 high school students
in New York, in clinics and master classes sponsored
by New York OffStage. Miss Golden is an active
member of the adjudicating panel for the
Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
About Ann Baltz:
ANN BALTZ is Founder and Artistic Director of the
nationally acclaimed performance training program,
OperaWorks. A master teacher of performance skills
and operatic improvisation for opera companies,
conservatories and universities, Ms. Baltz has been
heralded as one of the leading opera educators in
America today. She is a frequent speaker at national
conventions. She is currently on the steering
committee for OPERA America's Singer Training Forum
in New York City, and a frequent panelist for OPERA
America's national seminars Building a Career:
Strategies for Success.
An inventive approach and
reputation as the consummate pedagogue have made Ms.
Baltz a much sought-after teacher and coach. Her
students, many of them graduates of OperaWorks,
grace the operatic and concert stages, and
consistently reach the highest honors in national
and international competition. Among her teaching
positions, Ms. Baltz served as Director of
Apprentice Programs for Orlando Opera, and Opera
Pacific; Music Director for the Wesley Balk Summer
Institute; and as Guest Director of the Opera
Workshops at Carnegie-Melon University. Ms. Baltz is
on the opera faculty of California State University,
Northridge.
As a writer, Ms. Baltz has
contributed articles for Opera America's
publications Business Advice for Singers and Making
Choices. Additional articles appear in Classical
Singer, and Vocals magazines. She frequently serves
as an adjudicator for competitions throughout the
country including the Metropolitan Opera National
Auditions.

There's more... CFLNATS is thrilled to
announce that the National Conference is coming to
your back yard! The 52nd Conference will take
place from June 29-July 3 at the
Renaissance Orlando
at SeaWorld , and you can be a part of it!
Volunteers
are needed to help with Registration, Session
Support, Ticket Staffing, being a Welcome
Ambassador, or Volunteer Support Staff! Any gift of
time will be greatly appreciated and will ensure
that you are an important part of this wonderful
event.

Coordinating Chair, Dr. Jeanie Darnell or our
chapter president and Convention Site Coordinator,

AWARD”, given at the MET National Council Auditions
held at Trinity Prep School in Winter Park. The
award was determined at the judges’ discretion.
